So what's the difference between a Labradoodle and a Goldendoodle?
Truthfully not a whole lot. The main difference between the two breeds is their coats. F1 Labradoodles hair will grow to be about 3-5 inches long, or so, and that's it. F1 Goldendoodles get long coats that require grooming and haircuts, they can get quite matted if not taken care of properly. Your goldendoodle will need regular brushing and probably a haircut every few months, F1 labradoodles do not require any professional grooming, maybe just a good bath and brushing every once and a while. Their hair usually doesn't get long enough to matt but still is long enough for them to have that cute "Shaggy Dog" look.

F1B Labradoodles are very similar to F1 Goldendoodles, F1B labradoodles have long wavy or curly coats just like F1 Goldendoodles do. They also require lots of brushing and haircuts every so often. I have put a picture of a F1B labradoodle puppy and a F1 Goldendoodle puppy below....can you tell who's who? They look so much alike.

As far as personalities go, labradoodle and goldendoodles are very similar in that way too. They both are great family dogs, great with kids and other pets, love to play and retrieve, they are very "want to be with you breeds" so you won't have to worry about them running off.
Size wise, I would say Goldendoodles get a little bigger than Labradoodles do, but most depends on the parents. Goldens tend to carry a little more weight than do labradors.
All in all, I would say either one is a great choice, you can't go wrong with a DOODLE!!
