F1 VS F1B

F1 labradoodle also called first generation is when you breed a Labrador (mother or father) to a Poodle (mother or father) Either the mom or dad could be the poodle or lab it makes no difference they are still F1 and will look the same.

Lindy my labrador if bred with Brixx my Standard Poodle would produce F1 first generation Labradoodles.

These are what Lindy and Brixx's puppies would look like. They do seem to carry more of the labrador features (wider head, thicker muzzle, stockier build) although you can see some of the F1s that have a more slender muzzle like the poodle, they do tend to be more labrador like than poodle.

These being Standard size F1 labradoodles size can be anywhere from 45 lbs. to 80 lbs. Boys usually are bigger than the girls and some puppies will be smaller than others in the litter. The F1's will have different coat types in the litter too. Some have a flat coat with a little bit of wispys, some have a thick coat with tons of hair. I have sold F1's to families with allergies and I haven't heard of anyone being bothered by them. I can't say the F1's don't shed, them being 50% lab and 50% poodle I do believe they still shed a little bit, of course no where near what the labs do.

F1B or second generation is when you breed a Labradoodle back to a Poodle. Again either the mom or dad could be the Labradoodle or Poodle.

Mila is expecting some Miniature F1B labradoodle puppies October 31st 2007. These little Teddy Bears will be ready the week before X-Mas.

F1B's are better for allergy sufferes because of them being 75% poodle and 25% lab they do not shed at all. F1B's look quite different from F1's usually you will have a few that look like poodles but most really do look like labradoodles not either lab or poodle but a true blend of both breeds. These being miniature I expect them to weigh anywhere from 20-45 lbs. when grown. As for the coat type they will all have plush full coats that are non shedding.

Adult F1B labradoodle, Mila's expected puppies will look just Like Molly only 1/2 the size.
